This is your time to show off your style! Wear clothing that is true to you and that flatters your body. I recommend bringing a few different outfits for variety (anywhere from 2-4). One way to think of it is to bring a formal, casual, and fun outfit. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Outfit Inspiration From Previous Seniors!^
Tip 1: For a simple outfit framework: I recommend bringing one dressy/formal outfit (simple dress, maybe pants and a top), one more casual (could be jeans/jean shorts and a cute top), and one fun (long flowy dress, long skirt and top, pop color, fun shoes, etc). Have some fun, check pintrest or my website for past senior's outfits! Reach out with any questions or if you want another opinion:)
Tip 2: Pops of color are nothing to be afraid of! I often tell seniors to bring an outfit that makes a statement, such as a bright red dress, hot pink pants, bright-colored heels, or a teal dress. These photos are always some of the favorites.
Tip 3: Accessories just add to the outfit. This could be a big ole beach hat, sunglasses, rings on your fingers, bracelets, cute shoes to match the outfit, hair bows, etc.
Tip 4: If there is a sport that is important to you, bring props! Many seniors do an entire outfit change into their jerseys for various sports. Even if you don't want to do that, bring your cleats, ballet shoes, running shoes, hockey stick, future college Tee, etc, and we can take some photos with them. Feel free to bring other props such as books, flower bouquets, etc!
Tip 5: Paint those nails! I was short on time before my senior session, so I just got press on nails, which worked perfectly.
With all of these tips, there are some things you should try to avoid:
- Spray tans! Your natural skin tone will photograph the best.
- Uncomfortable, restricting clothing or outfits that are only flattering from certain angles.
- Crazy patterns/busy clothing, such as stripes. Florals usually work very well!
- Bra straps showing excessively (if they show every once in a while, they WILL show in photos!)
- Lots of wrinkles in clothing
- logos/graphics
- I suggest avoiding trying a new hair or makeup style the day of your session. You will want these photos to feel like you!
Things to bring to your senior session:
- A hairbrush.
- Makeup for touchups.
- Hair products for touchups.
- A little mirror (better than looking into a phone camera)
- Props.
- Oil blotting sheets.
- A water bottle. Sometimes we walk around a bit, and I want you to stay comfortable.
- A bag to put everything in, especially useful if we move around from location to location!
